Lmao, first off, why do horror movies always predictably start with you thinking “Wow God, oyinbo people, why are they always going to where they are not supposed to go?”
Because that’s clearly how you know trouble is looming aka film don start.
Like the blackness in me won’t even willingly go to a quiet backyard during the day alone, it’s now to be following one stranger that says he wants to show us a hiking spot late at night.
Just like that?
So anyway, like the synopsis already said, Truth or Dare is about a group of best friends, who decide to spend one last getaway together, ala spring break, together in Mexico, but then get sucked into a “demonic” game of “Truth or Dare”, where you either say the truth or do what you’ve been dared to do, or die!
When the “Truth or Dare” game in the movie started, I thought it would be interesting for a bit, until it became predictable. (Looks like horror movies are so predictable these days)
The movie, which is supposed to be horror, sorry thriller, (actually can spook you a few times sha, but most likely would be forgotten after the movie) became tiring to watch. Like I mean I really was fighting sleep and pausing to press my phone simultaneously!
Plus how can a group of friends who are losing each other one by one not even express real emotions?
I even forgot the lead character broke her hand sef (her best friend was dared to break her hand with hammer), because she used that same broken hand to ram a car and have sex
Infact you won’t remember at all that she broke hand that she was rushed to the hospital for oh.
You need to see how their hairs, makeup and outfits were looking laid almost throughout the movie sef.
And Mexico must have been 10 minutes away from where they lived, because the way they were just visiting the Mexico and doing what they supposedly needed to do in a few hours got me thinking wow these ones are lucky they didn’t have to face Lagos traffic sha (joke joke)
I don’t even understand the purpose of the investigations, the appearance of Brad’s cop father literally every minute, or the scattered love triangle between the 3 main casts (they sha wanted to have a reason to add a sex scene into that script shaaa, because lol hian)
Anyway, the acting was such a bore; some heavy truth telling with such dead emotions or passive reactions to the truth telling.(aka no depth)
Also, at a point, I couldn’t decide if the movie was written for Lucy Hale (should have been titled Lucy Hale) or if I wasn’t supposed to find the “clownish” creepy expression the demon did to their faces, funny.
I found it funny sha! Lol
The remedy to stop the demonic game was lol, like yeah right, how was the “scare tactic” used on the culprit convincing enough to actually make him agree to cut his own tongue lmao… the ending of the movie, I don’t know too
It feels exhausting writing this review really because the movie just sigh, but I gotta do it for the culture; just incase you are looking for a new feem to watch too.
This whole movie would have not happened if stubborn children that don’t use to hear word, did not follow stranger to where they don’t know. (Comic relief)
Oyinbo people need Nigerian parents/upbringing sometimes.
Anyway, here’s me heaving a heavy sigh of relief that I was able to finish this movie to review.
Sha, horror movie Lovers would probably hiss while watching this movie, but you could give it a try if you are super bored sha.
P.S Now I’m not so sure I look forward to wanting to play truth or dare should it ever arise oh. Hmmm.
Let’s see sha. Lol
Who wants to play Truth or Dare anyway?
Rating – 1/10 or 2/10
